HK Protest

This collection of paintings are inspired by the 2019 Hong Kong anti-extradition movement, capturing the raw emotion, intense energy, and resilience that defined the historic protests. Through vivid artistic expressions, the artworks reflect pivotal moments, iconic symbols, and the personal human stories behind the pro-democracy demonstrations.

​Ricker’s protest art and piano composition, “Hong Kong Rhapsody” (香港狂想曲), were branded as "separatist art" by the Chinese state media.  On April 20, 2022, the state-funded newspaper 文匯報 Wen Hui Bao accused him of violating the National Security Law, effectively banning him from entering Hong Kong and mainland China.
