Thank you for such a beautiful, excellent website that communicates the real heart of a performer. I very much enjoyed reading your website and learned a few things too! I am currently in the process of developing my own website http://www.riadawnpiano.com. My name is Ria, and I just won 2nd Prize in the Bradshaw & Buono.
Ricker, I would like to do “Music Heals!” concerts in my home area, which is Sarasota, Florida (in the Tampa Region). My piano teacher, Eleonora Lvov (www.eleonoralvov.com) is very big into benefit concerts, and I love the name “Music Heals!” because people come knowing exactly what this concert is all about and with an expectation to receive something more than simply “entertainment.” According to George Frideric Handel, if people came to his concert and just got “entertained”, he considered it a high insult. He wanted people to literally walk out of his concert as a “better person.”
In the coming year (from Fall 2010 to 2011), I would like to plan some “Music Heals!” benefit concerts in this area down here in Florida and will be sure to keep you (and your wonderful piano teacher) up to date on what we are planning to do. We will be sure to credit the origination of the “Music Heals!” series to you and your teacher in all of our programmes. I think that this is a magnificent movement that I would like to help promote in my area.
Great job on all you have done, and your website portrays a balanced perspective of piano playing as an art and as a means of reaching out to humanity with a mind towards betterment of the community.
Hey Ricker, your Japan photos are brilliant…some a bit artsy this time ’round. Especially the close-ups.
Also loved the “bright lights and city streets” urban photography.
How very interesting. Synethesia. This concept was brought up in a recent (#4-#8?) Heroes TV show episode where a woman’s powers are to see colour from sound. Very well done indeed.
I like how you linked this with the Sriabin Youtube video — very clever with push-the-envelope type thinking. Thought it was very cool.
Congratulations and thank you for putting on such a fine program on Friday. Your interpretation of Variations Serieuse and La Valse were inspiring and what a real treat to hear a variety of solo music and vocal works of Mendelssohn, Ravel, Strauss, Wagner, Chopin. Looking very much forward to your next recital!
Congratulations on your excellent performance on Friday night. The vocal repertoire (especially 4 last songs) is very challenging especially when added to a solo concert programme. The U of T piano is a bit dull on the top but I hope you were pleased with the results too! Keep up the great work!
Hey there Ricker — have to say your website has transformed remarkably! The organization is excellent, and it feels like a very full siite with lots of entertainment value AND information. AWESOME to surf on it.
Hope all is well. Great pics keeping you as sharp as ever.
Keep up the excellent work! Break a leg this Friday!
Dear Ricker,
Very enjoyable of visiting your website. I am looking forward to see your coming performance.
